About a hundred bottles make up an exhibition organized by the Institute for Wine Culture (16/04/2010)

Concurrent with the Contest XVI Quality Wines from Jumilla, the Institute for Wine Culture, ICV, opened Thursday in the Archaeological Museum exhibition Jerónimo Molina "Jumilla bottles", which features over a hundred bottles, old labels and original donated by wineries and individuals.

Before the inauguration, John Thomas and Reyes Paredes, the Colegio de Periodistas de Murcia gave a lecture on "The wine and the press."

These events were attended by nearly fifty people, including several council members of the corporation as well as representatives of groups, grocers and the general public.

The mayor of Culture recalled that Castillo has a hall dedicated to wine and houses an exhibition about the Wine Routes of Spain and the Jumilla Wine Route.

For its part, the organization responsible for Quality Wine Competition Enrique Calderon, was, by his presence, support the ICV Regulatory Council to promote wine culture and said he had seemed very well that this exhibition coincides with the Quality Contest XVI.

Also Emiliano Hernández, President of ICV said, "With this exhibition we want to prove that the tradition of bottling and Jumilla existed for many years, and in fact, in this sample is a bottle of 1892."

Hernandez added that the shows have helped many wineries, but that 80% were individual bottles.

"There is also a collection of five bottles of Jumilla CRDO that mark the evolution of the Appellation of Origin and also in the room there are several unique items related to the wine world such as the Kylix, the remains of vitis vinifera seed and earrings gold with a cluster of grapes, "he said.

Paredes and Juan Tomás Reyes discussed the treatment of wine in the media

The media impact and the appearance of wine-related news in the media was the central theme of the talk that made journalists Reyes Paredes and Juan Tomás Frutos.

The conference, organized by the Institute for Wine Culture, focused on a study conducted by journalists in La Verdad, La Razón and La Opinion, COPE and 7RM, in which analyzed the number of stories related to wine that appeared from January to March, its size, importance, if photographs appeared to accompany the information and so on.

Among the conclusions reached by Reyes Paredes appears that there is diversity of methods and channels you are talking about wine, and displayed more news in the press such that radio and television.

"However, we still need to dig deeper and create a stronger culture of wine, although the balance is positive," added the journalist.

For his part John Thomas Frutos stressed the idea that both the Press Association and the College of Journalists want to be present in the activities organized and noted that journalists are missing in the sector, so that should take courses and workshops as performed by the ICV to reach people.

"I think there must be better educated to convey information accurately and more self-criticism to correct our mistakes," he said.
