Last Friday was closed in the classroom culture of Caja Murcia, a workshop for carers of dependent persons who have attended a total of 42 people, as confirmed by the Councillor for Social Policy Mariana Gómez.
The course of 15 hours, Rafa has been given by Valero, Red Cross nurse, based on an agreement established between this group and the council.
Mariana Gomez said that "this kind of workshops began last year with the aim of training for carers, based on the implementation of the Law Unit and taking into account the existing demand."
Thus, the course was included in the agreement with Red Cross and gave two editions, whose schedules and contents have been expanded and adapted to the requests of participants.
The councilman of Social Policy stressed in this edition, the increased participation of men "that we find it satisfactory and shows that men are gradually involving and engaging in the care of dependent people."
Gomez added that "throughout this 2010 already raised two new courses, with a commitment to expand the number of hours up to 25"
For his part, Rafael Valero spoke of the contents of this workshop.
The first thing is to explain the illness, the types of dementia and how they evolve, "is much needed information about what happens to your family, because if not, increase the caregiver's own anxiety," said nurse who added that "in addition to reports on how to cope with family illness and gives them techniques to avoid problems of coexistence, as well as guidelines for the primary caregiver of the patient and, above all, and this is very important to be able to take care of itself, since it has been seen that very often the syndrome of 'caretaker burning'. The students themselves have been raised other issues that concern them, for example, Parkinson's disease or the care of ulcers and wounds.
At the end of the course were presented with a diploma certifying their attendance.
