The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, today announced that the Ministry of Development will allocate this year a party of 533,141.29 euros to cover replacing Vico Theatre in Jumilla (Murcia), charged to the funds generated by 1% Cultural and public works contracts.
This item was approved by the Ministries of Development and Culture in the Joint Committee on Cultural 1% on the afternoon of Monday, Tuesday in Madrid.
The performance is included in the program "Companies", which manages the Ministry of Public Works to meet the needs of Spanish Historical Heritage, by carrying out conservation work, improvement, restoration and rehabilitation from the 1% Cultural.
González Tovar added that the intervention includes work for the maintenance of the building focused on the elimination of the pathological processes currently occurring in the theater (cracks, deformations, moisture, ...) and replacement of damaged structural elements other similar characteristics (such as new wood trusses in the central area).
It also proposes a change in external perception, proposing stucco finish to the elements of concrete blocks in the bodies added to the original building.
Also included is the restoration of the painted ceiling of the stalls.
The implementation of these actions will mobilize more than 710,000 euros, to provide the City of Jumilla 25% of the budget.
Vico Theatre
The Theatre opened in 1883, was built in an eclectic language with decorations from the classical language, plateresco or Renaissance.
It has three floors and a large stage to loom large for all the props.
In the interior, which features a neoclassical theater feature available with horseshoe-shaped plan, highlight the painted ceiling of the main hall on canvas made with bracing frame hanging from the straps of the wooden trusses that form the roof structure original stalls.

The ceiling painting by Manuel Sanmartin, done on canvas, depicts the allegory of music and is one of the most significant elements of the building.
1% Cultural
Heritage Act 1985 provides that 1% of the total budget for the implementation of public works will fund the work of conservation and enrichment of the Spanish Historical Heritage or promoting creativity.
The performances are held in buildings of cultural interest or similar.
The calculation of this 1% is made on the basis of budget execution of all construction material in excess of 600,000 euros.
