The women's shelter immigrants from Jumilla starts next week (07/08/2009)

Today it has inaugurated the Welcome House Immigrant Women in Jumilla, which will start operating next week.

The building was inaugurated by the mayor of the town council Francisco Abellán and Social Policy Mariana Gómez.

The Welcome House is a temporary remedy, with a maximum stay of three months extendable.

The house, located on Calle Cabecico seven, is intended primarily to immigrant women with or without dependents and who is in need of accommodation.

It has a capacity for eight.

It has all the necessary services and consists of two floors: the ground floor bedroom, office, living room, kitchen, pantry, laundry, bathroom and patio and upstairs there are three bedrooms, lounge, car wash and ironing and cleaning.

This house was purchased by the city of Jumilla in 2001 through a grant from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

The building has been rehabilitated and remodeled in phases, with grants of that advice, undertaking work in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007, which has been enacted in the house of necessary living conditions and infrastructure essential to the development of a normal life.

For the acquisition and rehabilitation of the house has invested a total of 114,420 euros, of which 80,526 euro from the region and 33,894 are municipal contribution.

Parallel to the reform, from the Department of Social Policy have been requesting grants from the Autonomous Region for acquiring basic equipment, furniture (beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, kitchen furniture, among others.) And additional equipment such as appliances , lamps, tableware, linens, silverware, etc.

This concept has invested the total amount of 15,400 euros, of which 11,550 from the Autonomous Region and 3,850 euros are providing the City of Jumilla.

All grants come from the Directorate General of Immigration and volunteering, and fall within the National Plan for Integration and Immigration Service to the Ministry of Labour and Immigration.

The way of working from home is governed by the Rules of Operation thereof, adopted unanimously in the heart of the corporation dated September 30, 2008 and published in the BORM on 30 October this year.

The services to be provided in the home are the following: information and assessment, shelter, counseling, legal advice.

Human resources are there in the CAS are: a social worker in charge of the program belonging to the Center of Social Services, a company Columbares educator, who is the manager of the house, and volunteers.

The management company of the guesthouse is Columbares Association, a non-profit association, located in Beniaján, with extensive experience in managing such houses for an amount of 25,200 euros for one year.
