The Ministry of Land Policy, through the Directorate General for Cooperation of Local Economy, City Council has awarded a grant of 156,489 Jumilla euros to co-finance the project "Choose Your Way: Jumilla safe and participatory."
The project and the grant has been submitted by the Mayor of Jumilla Francisco Abellán.
This project, which was developed by the Department of Citizenship and falls in a line of support for civil society participation in the ministry, is aimed at building the Traffic Education Center in the hamlet of La Estacada, along to existing tracks where practical exams held a driver's license.
The award of this grant establishes the conditions that must be allocated and work started this year 2009 and the project must be undertaken during 2009 and 2010.
In this line of support states that the purpose of the visit is to enhance the participation of civil society in improving local services through co-financing of projects covering the objectives and that the company has its role.
One of the objectives of this project is to articulate an effective citizen participation Jumillano in providing municipal services and road safety education, promoting the organization and active involvement of citizens in the management of an exclusive space for these purposes and collaboration with municipal services.
Thus, according to the report prepared for the application for this grant, the Traffic Education Centre would be a social center for education and prevention road so as to provide the space necessary for the promotion of policies for Security and driver education and serve as a physical space for the daily management of municipal services related to road safety education.
It would provide space for training students and young people in general in this area, as well as a center to coordinate activities between local services, bodies and movements associationist participation.

As for the physical characteristics of the Traffic Education Centre, will be located on municipally owned land, located in the hamlet of La Estacada, will have a plot area of 21,650 meters square, 1,333 square meters of road circuit and 295 of floor area.
Would have five spaces, four units for training, information exchange and advice (training room, workshop, garage, warehouse, office, reception or lounge distributor) and an open space designed to develop a Traffic Park, equipped with streets, avenues, parks, complete signaling, as if it were a small development.
The project has been prepared by Engineering PGA and has a total cost of 347,754 euros.
The mayor also highlighted the large investments that are receiving the hamlet of La Estacada: the extension of the Botanical Gardens which will open soon, the courts review the draft Road Safety Education Centre and will build remodeling the velodrome.
Francisco Abellán recalled that "last year a grant similar to the multipurpose building will be completed later this year."
