According to figures from the Council of the Designation of Origin Jumilla, over a thousand people gathered at the IX Miniferia Wine 2009, held last Saturday in the town.

In this mini-fair, which was played the Garden of King Don Pedro, attended by 20 wineries offered the visitors their new wines.

The event was inaugurated by President of the Regulatory Council of Miguel Gil Jumilla Vera and the newly appointed Honorary Chairman 2009, and Mayor of Jumilla Francisco Abellán Martínez.

Both provided with Jumilla wine and accompanied by the secretary of the Board, Fernando Gonzalez and Jesus Sanchez, Councillor for Agriculture and Industry.

In this opening, Francisco Abellán showed their enthusiasm "for checking the progress of our wines and it's a commitment I made when I was appointed Honorary Chairman."

Among the discoveries about the world of wine, Abellán was surprised by the presentation in this mini-fair, ice cream wine from Jumilla, "another option to see and taste our wines."

Honorary President of the DO Jumilla noted that since the council is working closely with the Control Board to assist in the disclosure, dissemination, understanding and development of the DO "In this collaboration are active members of Department of Tourism through the Route Wine and Tourism Office, the Department of Agriculture and other associations such as the Association of Winemakers Murcia with the intention that what we offer is part of a single package in the common goal, "said Abellán.

For his part, Miguel Gil said, "This Miniferia is a rare opportunity to see how well they are working on the DO Jumilla".

The president of the Control Board to have different projects, including promoting the wine in countries such as India, China or Canada.

Thus, the Ninth Wine Miniferia organized by the Consejo Regulador of DO Jumilla has established itself as a benchmark to be considered by all wine lovers.
