The municipal elections held on April 3, 1979, in which citizens could freely elect councilors and mayors / municipalities as of all Spanish, were the road to democratic standards in our country.

Besides Mayor Francisco Abellán Jumilla said that "in this Legislature, we must have a new model of local financing, common throughout the country, equipped with adequate participation in both government taxes (PIE), as the Autonomous Communities (diamonds), and stable enough to meet the demands and needs of the citizens and should be developed and agreed with the FEMP simultaneously and linked to the financing agreement with the Autonomous Communities.
