The Vico Theatre on Sunday welcomed the launch of the new image of the Brotherhood of St Mary Magdalene, San Miguel Archangel processions, for the first time on Easter Sunday.
The event was attended by various political and religious authorities, members of the brotherhood and the sculptor José María Leal, author of the picture.
In the first part of the act, the priest José Marcos Martinez spoke about the religious symbolism of San Miguel Archangel.
He talked about who he is, what it means for the Church and what it represents in the procession of the Resurrection.
Then the professor of art history at the University of Murcia Cristóbal Belda offered an account of the iconography of the new image.
For its part, the sculptor explained the process of completion and details of the image.
José María Leal is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville in the art of sculpture.
