Last Thursday was held by the Commission of Public Works, Urbanism and Environment.
One of the topics discussed was concerning the solid waste silver from Jumilla.
The commission was approved unanimously by those present, to accept the protocol that will follow the General Directorate of Environmental Quality on this issue.
As reported by the mayor and chairman of this committee Francisco Abellán "using this protocol is to proceed with the termination of the relationship with the current concessionaire and guide the future management of the plant from the environmental point of view."
Jumilla City Council is the owner of the service provided by the treatment plant in Jumilla MSW, located on the site of the Loma de Hellin, but the ownership is held by operating a private company under an agreement made in December 1987.
After all this time and of different actions and agreements on the ground, in February 2009 the mayor had a meeting with the Director General of Evaluation, Planning and Environmental Control in which the outcome was the urgent need to regularize the situation management of it and adapt to environmental requirements.
From now on we will continue the necessary arrangements for the signing of the protocol and appropriate actions in these facilities.
