The Governing Council authorized the grant of 1,645,038 euros to the Community of Irrigators 'Miraflores' of Jumilla, in the implementation of a plan for improvement, modernization and consolidation of irrigation in this area.
The Plan includes the construction of the dam projects of 'Molar', of 284,000 cubic meters, and 'Salinas', which will increase capacity to 303,000 cubic meters and the project of a medium voltage overhead line in the beetles, installation of a groundwater lift the beads, the proposed expansion of a processing plant in Fuente del Pino and the blueprint for the modernization of the water network.
The Plan's objectives are focused on saving water and energy and the completion of the works of automation and improvement of irrigation system.
The irrigation area of the Community of Irrigators 'Miraflores' is around Jumilla.
The surface of the irrigation area of 1,530 hectares, of which 1,350 are in the vicinity of Jumilla and the remaining 180 hectares are located near the villages of La Alqueria and La Fuente del Pino.
The crops are mainly stone fruit and seed, and temporarily produce some vegetables.
This grant is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and regional and national administrations.
