The Community will invest 15.6 million euros in improving the secondary road network in the Highlands (24/11/2008)

The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, said today at a press conference that the regional government through the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, made an investment of 15,600,000 euros to improve the secondary road network of region of the Altiplano.

The aim of the different steps to be carried out in the towns of Yecla and Jumilla is to increase road safety and reduce traffic times by improving road infrastructure in the process of second level.

Thus, "communications will be improved not only in urban but also in more remote districts, benefiting 60,000 people," said Guijarro.

One of the largest performance improvement of the section is the city of the voyage of the RM-425, which runs from Yecla to Villena.

The works, which affect the town of Yecla, have a cost of 4,224,344 euros

In the first half of 2009 conditioned the RM-426, which runs from Yecla to Almansa.

In this sense, Pebble said that this action, which has a cost of 404,698 euros, includes the construction of two bicycle lanes to two meters wide on both sides of the road "which will ensure the maximum safety for cyclists."

The project of this action, which will encourage communication of the Altiplano, began drafting in 2009.

Another improvement actions to be undertaken in the secondary road network is the design of the RM-404, which links Albacete Yecla and the hamlet of Fuente Alamo.

Is currently completing the project, which has come at a cost of 111,000 euros.

The works will affect the towns of Yecla and Jumilla and will involve a total investment of 6 million euros, according to forward Guijarro.

Road safety actions in 14 road

You can enhance the road safety of 14 regional roads in the region and the installation of protective systems for motorists in the RM-424 and RM-423, which represents an investment in excess of 50,000 euros.

This action will run in the middle of next December.

Also be awarded soon works to strengthen the signal of 12 roads in the towns of Yecla and Jumilla.

The work, which has a cost of 185,000 euros, involves two-way first class, five second-level and five third level.

Also, Pebble said that "within the conservation actions, the Department will begin next week for repair of the pavement of the A-26, which goes to Yecla Jumilla, with a contribution of 231,979 euros."

A projected investment of over EUR 451 million

In terms of overall investment in the Autonomous Community in the Highlands to improve road infrastructure, the planned investment for the coming years in the towns of Yecla and Jumilla exceeds 451 million euros and includes the proportionate amount for the two large projects being promoted in this county: Yecla-Santomera motorways and Caravaca, Jumilla Venta del Olivo ".

With regard to highway-Santomera Yecla, Director General of Highways said that the wording has been awarded the project for an amount of 2,003,999 euros, and that the work will be bid in 2010.

Finally, Pebble said that "the drafting of the new highway will be awarded later this month for an amount of 2,456,333 euros.
