Jumilla hosted the XXI Annual Meeting of the Network of Emergency Action (01/07/2008)

Jumilla hosted the XXI Annual Meeting of the Emergency Radio Network for Civil Protection (REMER) of the Region of Murcia.

Other events in addition Yecla, belonging both municipalities to zone 6.

On the occasion of this visit, the corporation offered an official reception which was also attended by government delegate Rafael González.

The event was chaired by the Mayor of Jumilla, Francisco Abellán and were, among others, the council's Public Safety Yecla, Juan Miguel Zornoza, and the coordinator of Zone 6 of the REMER of Murcia.

Jorge de Castro also attended, national coordinator of the REMER, Juan Lorente, head of the Civil Protection Unit of the Delegation of the Government, the police chiefs of Jumilla and Yecla.

At the reception, Francisco Abellán noted that the holding of such meetings should serve "to raise awareness of the importance of the emergency system in the region."

The Mayor also highlighted the work of volunteers.

For its part, the government's delegate welcomed "to share this day with" people who, selflessly, every day prepared to address important societal problems. "

This meeting was attended by about 200 members of the REMER, from Los Alcazares, Lorca, Cartagena and San Javier.

Participants had the opportunity to visit several places of Jumilla, including the Archaeological Museum and the Ethnographic Jerónimo Molina and Natural Sciences.

Upon receipt, REMER components and the authorities shared a meal at Bodegas San Isidro and there, making the delivery of awards and recognitions.

Emergency Radio Network is a complementary organization of the Red Command's Directorate General of Civil Protection and Emergency (Ministry of Interior), nationally structured and composed of Spanish hams the voluntary and altruistic are integrated in the same to assist in emergency situations.

His role in these situations is to provide Civil Protection a secure communications network transmissions between the various departments involved in accidents and also provide a comprehensive and timely information on the circumstances and the evolution of those.

The REMER in Spain has about 7,000 employees (about 200 in the Region of Murcia) who put their technical means and expertise to service the state administration, without receiving so any compensation.
