The general director of Quality and Environmental Assessment, Encarnacion Molina, this morning held a meeting with the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, to see the measures proposed by the Consistory to improve waste management in the region and the municipality.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings with local councils to understand the contributions of local authorities to the new Regional Waste Plan (2015-2020), which is currently being processed in strategic environmental assessment.
Also at the meeting it was specified that the Ministry will study with the City of Jumilla making investments to help meet recycling targets posed Waste Plan.
In addition, the session aims to carry out a separate biowaste collection pilot project.
Also, Molina Encarna informed the mayor that soon the expansion project will be delivered and improvements made in the waste treatment plant of Jumilla, which has an estimated cost of 1.2 million euros.
The work consisted in the construction of a transfer station for municipal waste and a metal cover to reduce leachate.
