Thousands of jumillanos go out to enjoy the Carnival (08/02/2016)

Jumillanos thousands have taken to the streets throughout the weekend to enjoy the Carnival 2016. The good weather on Saturday allowed the influx of participants and the public was very high in all acts.

The evening began with a massive carnival parade in which 1,500 people took part belonging to 22 groups and associations, as well as a number of jumillanos that, individually or in groups joined the parade.

Late at night, the party moved to the parking lot of Central Market, which was installed at six bars Fiestódromo provided services.

According to official figures of the local police, there were times when the number of visitors exceeded 2,500 people.

Councillor of Celebration, Cande Fernandez, showed his satisfaction with the outcome of this first part of Carnival, "They have exceeded all expectations of public participation and I thank everyone who made this possible.".

As for the show, there were six drag queen who entered the contest, being winning Lady Scania, which was 300 euros.

Croyana Cros and Priscilla took control of the second and third prize, endowed with 200 and 100 euros respectively, while the third place was donated to the Red Cross.

The award for best makeup went to Palo Samanta, also of 100 euros.

The photocall Group Seven Days also exceeded two hundred groups that went bankrupt and whose awards will be presented on Tuesday.

Sunday Higuico

Yesterday Higuico Sunday was celebrated, although with much less public participation because of the cold and wind.

This is a classic carnival jumillano, the date on which it began to be held, although no documents of half of the nineteenth century local poet Pedro Jimenez first name it is unknown.
