Jumilla will attend the 2016 edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), to be held from 20 to 24 January in Madrid, through its wines and its tourist attractions.
The stand of the Region of Murcia will be "a window of flavors", among which will be the Wine Route Jumilla with special prominence through tastings on Wednesday at 13 am, Thursday at 12:30 and Friday at 10.45 hours.
Under the slogan 'Murcia, makes you happy', it can be found at booth generic tourist information of the town, as well as specific del Castillo, the wine and religious tourism, as a more action seeking that Easter Jumilla is declared of international tourist interest.
The mayor, Juan Guardiola, and the Councillor for Tourism, Pilar Martinez, will travel to the fair on Wednesday, accompanied by the president of the Jumilla Wine Route, Sebastian Garcia.
On Thursday, the mayor will be in the signing of a cooperation agreement between ACEVIN and PREDIF (State Representative Platform of the Physically Disabled), taking advantage ceremony to be held in FITUR, to develop joint actions to improve the wine routes of Spain from the point of view of tourist accessibility.
Juana Guardiola has stressed that the City Council: "They seek to increase tourism activities in order to give new impetus to the city, offering a much greater support for the Wine and implementing various projects to launch the many tourist attractions Jumilla and is barely known and exploit ".
The year 2015 was closed with figures similar to 2014 as far as tourism is concerned.
They have been addressed from the Tourist Information 3,500 requests for information, plus the attention to groups which has reached 17,200 people.
During the same year, the Municipal Museum Jerónimo Molina has received 11,400 people in their sections of Archaeology, Ethnography and Natural Sciences.
The castle has been visited by 5,640 people, while the Teatro Vico, regardless of their usual activities, has received more than 1,000 visits.
Tourists are mostly Murcia, reaching 54%;
26% have come from other provinces, mainly in Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid;
and 20% are foreigners, mainly from Britain and France.
From the Department of Tourism they have organized guided tours of the castle and old town views, some dramatized as the famous bandit Jaime Alfonso "The Bearded" and Don Juan Tenorio, where the Municipal Cemetery was used for the first time stage.
They have published brochures and videos that have served to further travel promotion fairs as FITUR in Madrid, Salon de Vacances in Brussels, Frankfurt Fair, B Travel in Barcelona, ​​Murcia sample Municipalities and Cities Network Ave, among others.
