The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, met today with members of the Foundation 'Christ tied to the Column', in which Caritas involved and the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena-Murcia, in order to find a solution that allows the opening of the residence seniors Jumilla, closed since last June.
The meeting agreed that the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena will be responsible for the rehabilitation of facilities to suit the current regulations, which involve an investment of 1.8 million euros, and the Foundation will manage the residence.
Moreover, after the remodeling, the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) plans to carry out the accreditation of the places with the 'Christ tied to the Column' Foundation.
In this regard, Thomas Violante said that "the objective is that people over Jumilla can return to the municipality and be closer to their families, which will affect their quality of life."
Later, Thomas Violante, accompanied by the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, visited the residence to check the status of their facilities.
Also, the minister participated in the Christmas party Social Jumilla Senior Center, and congratulated the parties for the elderly and their families gathered there.
