Jumilla hosts this week the XXI Festival de Cante Flamenco 'Jumilla City', organized by the Peña Flamenca Golden Grape. The director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA), Marta López Briones, accompanied President the rock, Francisco Carcelen, along with several members of its board, in presenting the program on Wednesday.
Marta Lopez-Briones recalled "the important flamenco tradition in the region that is manifested through several major festivals which include the 'Ciudad de Jumilla', an event that after more than twenty years of experience has established itself as a benchmark culture in the region. "
Besides the traditional gala to be held on Saturday at the Teatro Vico, this year highlights "a joint action with the participation of numerous artists and the opening jumillanos marking the start of the festival," the director said.
The XXI National Festival of Cante Flamenco 'Jumilla City' will open this Thursday, October 29th (20:00), with the opening of the poet, writer and academic of Letters of Granada Pedro Henriquez, to be held in the Cajamurcia Cultural Hall of the municipality.
Then a flamenco performance with Jacob singers Carmen and Ana Luna, guitarist Carlos Rojas, dancer and poet Eugenia Canovas Street Charo be held.
Admission is free until full capacity of the room.
Vico Theatre will host the Saturday, October 31, from 21:00, the central gala of the festival, which will feature performances of the dance group and flamenco touch Elena López 'La Sensa ", whom they accompany on stage the singer Amparo Heredia 'The Repompilla' Kiki Corpas and musicians (guitar), Angel Bocanegra (violin) and Victor Rodriguez (percussion).
Also they pass through the Vico Theatre singers Arturo Fernandez (Granada, 1949) and Alvaro Rodriguez (Granada, 1981), who will perform accompanied by the Sevillian guitarist Alvaro Rodriguez.
The song will also be represented by the pair of singing and dancing formed by Francisco Olid and Mary (grandfather and granddaughter) and the cast of artists will end with the Granada poet Charo Street.
A day earlier, on Friday, October 30 (21:00) Jumillano theater will host a solidarity evening in which bands and artists will perform in the municipality, which include the dancer Marin Conchi, flamingos groups' Al Compass' and 'The Beat' and the dancers Sara Perez, Aurora González and the pairing of David and Laura.
