Jumilla City Council, through its mayor, Juan Guardiola, will hold the post of treasury on the board of the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) during the 2015-19 legislature.
This was decided yesterday at the extraordinary meeting held at the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs in Madrid.
The association represents 25 Wine Routes of Spain, including Jumilla and will be chaired by Rosa Melchor, mayor of Alcázar de San Juan.
The mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sanchez, act as first vice president, while Antonio Cosculluela, President of the Aragonese Parliament will be the second vice president representing Barbastro.
For his part, Carlos Gonzalez Jairego, trade and tourism councilor of Almendralejo, was elected third vice president.
Villafranca del Penedes will address secretería while Rueda, Cambados, Laguardia and Montilla carry forward the four vocalías.
Juana Guardiola, as the sole representative of the Region of Murcia on the board, moved to the back board to the assembly, the region's interest in hosting the next regular meeting, scheduled for April or May 2016.
One of the main objectives is marked ACEVIN is to boost the Wine Routes of Spain with more involvement of public administrations and private companies through sponsorship.
At the meeting yesterday discussed projects to improve the competitiveness of the routes, the introduction of a new model for the Tourism Observatory of the Wine Routes of Spain, positioning and promotion campaigns and marketing support of the tourism product.
ACEVIN was created in 1994 and now groups 70 members, of which fifty are municipalities around the country.
