The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, today signed a collaboration agreement with the mayor of Jumilla, Juan Guardiola, to hire the service of preventive forestry in the mountains of public utility in the municipality.
"The actions to improve forests for fire protection are included in the Improvement Plan 2013 and will have a total investment of 154,000 euros," said regional manager.
Martinez-Cacho said that "the brigade that carried out improvement work will consist of 14 laborers and two foremen performing on about 100 hectares."
He explained that "the purpose is to promote measures and activities aimed at the improvement, management, conservation, restoration and rational exploitation of forests Catalogue of Public Utility by applying Improvement Fund".
To this end, local authorities categorized mountains holders should contribute to a fund for improvement an amount fixed by the Community, which shall not be less than 15 percent of the value of its forestry, for the conservation and improvement thereof .
The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, through the bottom of improvement, working with a total of 13 municipalities in the region, which have public woodland.
