The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, under the 'Safer Plan', has developed an investigation into the theft of a large amount of cash to an elderly person in Jumilla, which has culminated in the identification, locating and arresting the alleged perpetrator for the crime of theft.

Greater Security Plan
Since 2010, the Civil Guard is developing specific measures to prevent and prosecute the commission of illegal activities with a common denominator: elderly victims.
These measures are framed in the 'Greater Security Plan' and have defined the following objectives:
a) Prevent the main identified threats to the security of the elderly:
Abuse in its various forms.
Theft (in their homes, with violence, especially in the environment of financial institutions, etc. ...).
Thefts.
Scams and fraudulent use of their property, funds, accounts and savings accounts by third parties.
b) Promote confidence of older people in the Security Forces and the development of proactive for reporting situations and crimes they may be victims behaviors.
c) To improve the police response to their actions with the elderly.
In this regard, the Civil Guard has driven some informative measures by holding talks in day centers, nursing homes and other places authorized by the administration or associates aimed at transferring information to seniors about the risks that constitute a greater threat for safety with a special emphasis on the following aspects:
Elder Abuse in the family, residences, etc.
Measures to prevent theft in their homes.
Measures to prevent jerks, thefts and robberies in the environment of financial institutions.
Measures to prevent fraud.
Measures for preventing the fraudulent use of their property, funds, accounts and savings accounts by third parties.
Among the activities undertaken in implementing the Plan are:
Colloquium talks at senior centers.
Made contact and collaboration with professional, family and other institutions of higher environment.
Other activities: health care interventions and complementary activities (such as open days).

During the last year and under the Security Master Plan, the Civil Guard has conducted more than 300 conferences, lectures and meetings in the region of Murcia, both seniors and professionals and relatives of the first, in which an approximate attendance of 50 people are estimated to each.
