In order to value entomology and the study of insects in the town, last Friday the Department of Culture presented the foundations of the first Award of Entomological Research "Francisco González López" from Jumilla, initiative which aims encourage research in this area of ​​natural sciences.
Councillor for Culture, Maria Dolores Fernandez, accompanied by the director of the Museum of Ethnography, Cayetano Herrero, Chief of Section of Entomology, Francisco Lencina, and the head of department of Culture, Andrés Martínez, were responsible for presenting the bases , which among other things will be explained as the deadline for submission of papers on 30 June next year, all focusing on entomology in the local geographic area.
According highlighted the Minister of Culture, Maria Dolores Fernandez, "This award comes to fulfill a promise he made to Don Francisco, we want to pay tribute, through this initiative. In addition, this award is to give prestige to a space as important as our Museum of Natural Sciences ".
As reflected in the foundation, the award is called for studies or projects must be original, not having been awarded in other competitions, be written in Castilian, and not exceed 100 pages.
They may also attend groups or related to the environment which are legally constituted associations or individuals, and may submit only one work, being the prize of 1,000 euros for the winning work.
The original was presented at the General Register of the City, unsigned, under a pseudonym, closed and accompanied by a plica in which every detail of the author appear on.
As for the jury, this will be composed of the honorary president, Francisco González;
president, mayor or councilor / a Culture;
the director of the Science Museum;
and as vocal a curator, an expert in the area of ​​entomology, the head of department of Culture and a member of each political group represented municipal, being the secret deliberations.
