The Institute of Infanta Elena in Jumilla gets four awards Secondary'San Viator Investigación' (30/09/2014)

The Secondary School Infanta Elena in Jumilla has won four national awards 'San Viator Research', thus becoming the center that has achieved the most awards in this twentieth edition of this prestigious event, which had been submitted more than 400 jobs centers throughout Spain.

The Director General of Educational Quality, Innovation and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta, and the Councillor for Education of Jumilla, Alicia Abellán, met this morning with the responsible faculty Baccalaureate Research, a form designed by the Ministry of Education , Culture and Universities to promote scientific and research careers for students from the region, which is part of the strategy '+ Educational Quality + Success School'.

"These four awards give an idea of ​​success that this educational plan and effort and interest that between students and teachers, in addition to be a recognition of her work and involvement," said Begoña Iniesta.

In the form of Sciences, the student of 4th of ESO, José Lozano, won second prize for his work 'The perfect package', led by Professor Isabel Marin.

The special prize was awarded to Energy Efficiency alumna 2nd High School, Almudena Alarcón, with Professor Santiago Gonzalez as guardian for his project 'bioclimatic architecture.

The foundations of sustainability ', while teammate Maria Isabel Verdú, alumna also 2nd High School, earned an honorable mention for the work' Space technology.

Remote sensing ', led by Professor Pedro Martinez.

Finally, in the category of Humanities, the student of 2nd High School, Ana Elena Gomez, I won the special award CEU Journalism and Communication Sciences for his project entitled 'Statistics:? Manipulation or ignorance', held under the direction of Professor Antonio Lozano.

The IES Infanta Elena has two Bachelors Research (the Humanities and Social Sciences and Science and Technology) with a total of 56 students, 19 and 37 respectively.

Regionally, the number of students participating in this curriculum is 713, in a total of 15 Secondary Schools.

Three other centers awarded

In addition to the IES Infanta Elena in Jumilla, this edition of the awards 'San Viator Research' they were awarded other centers in the region, such as IES Juan Carlos I of Murcia, Mediterranean IES Cartagena and IES Francisco de Goya de Molina Safe.

The Research School is to instill excellence among students and bring them closer to the rigor of the scientific method and research as an essential principle, and enable them to develop practices to check the real life applications of science and technology and, ultimately, give them training date they encourage tackling their future studies or enter the workforce.

To promote this vocation for scientific, humanistic, technical or artistic research and awaken the intellectual curiosity of students, in the School Research methodology that facilitates the incorporation and adaptation of students to university education applies also to teach manage bibliographic sources, develop their own agendas and work together with peers and teachers or a reasoned argument.

In the latest edition of the Contest for Young Scientists from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 27.50 percent of the selected works belonged to students in the region.
