The Municipal Corporation approved yesterday at a meeting of special city, and unanimously, the regulatory basis for awarding grants to fight child poverty in Jumilla, a support of more than 22,000 euros of the Autonomous Community, which will be aimed at the poorest families with children up to 16 years of Jumilla.
Last August, the Government of the Region, approved the Plan of Action Against Child Poverty, through which more than a million euros will be allocated among the municipalities of the Community to meet the basic needs of families with children up to 16 years and lack of basic needs, such as would be the purchase of food, clothing or pharmacy costs, among others.
The City of Jumilla, therefore receive 21,442 euros, which explained Councillor for Social Policy "is the amount that corresponds to our town based on census population under 16 years."
The Center for Social Services has developed the project for the implementation of this grant scheme, which has been referred to the Ministry of Social Policy.
According to Juan Calabuig nuance, "it is necessary to note that the main purpose of these grants is to combat child poverty, through the provision of subsidies for families with children with basic needs services," explained the head of Social Policy, who also said "we believe are fair and equitable basis to adequately regulate the entire process of this aid."
In this regard, all local groups voted favorably to the proposal, despite the nuances of opposition groups, on the amount or the possible relaxation of the rules.
