This Saturday, Jumilla was the venue chosen by the Confederation of Associations of Parents of Students of the Region of Murcia, CONFAPA, for its annual meeting, which was attended, among other authorities, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Manuel Marcos Sánchez, the mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, Director General of Department, M ª Dolores Valcárcerl, and the Councillor for Education, Alicia Abellan.
According to the secretary general said during his speech in the Assembly, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities support to families with more than 38,500 scholarships between dining and school supplies.
This represents an increase over those granted this course, especially in the dining room, where the budget allocated by the Autonomous Region increased by 45 percent.
Specifically, the Ministry allocated 3,181,557 euros, one million euros this year, the school meals;
3,350,000 euros and grants to school supplies, to which should be added to another million from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
"We made a major effort to support families and to reach more students in need with school meals and school supplies. Additionally, we have simplified the application process and will expedite aid granted," said Manuel Sánchez Marcos.
Jumilla Mayor moreover emphasized the "common goal shared by mothers, fathers, educational community and regional and local administrations, that make training and education a priority," and for this, said Enrique Jimenez, "the Jumilla City Council will continue to work to implement the various programs that arise, to improve the training and education of our children. "
Also spoke Jose Antonio Abellan, president CONFAPA, who outlined some of the concerns of the Association of Parents of the region, among which highlighted the call for greater representation on school boards, improve prevention of absenteeism school, and remain committed to measures already implemented as new technologies, or the banks of books, among other issues.
Textbooks
In this regard, the Secretary-General stressed that the Education Ministry and addresses the need to reduce household spending on school materials, so that the new decree autonomic adaptation LOMCE emphasizes that, before a school propose changing the textbooks, it will have to be specifically justified, always seeking solutions as the adequacy of that already employ students through the use of additional resources.

The scholarship program provides school supplies also the possibility that the material that has been acquired with the grants be donated at the centers to initiate proceedings leading to the creation or expansion of already implemented by schools or municipalities.
