The Minister of Industry, Tourism, Enterprise and Innovation, Juan Carlos Ruiz, said today that "wine tourism is an important driver of tourism development in Jumilla, registering a very positive development in recent years."
For this reason, Ruiz welcomed the initiative of the Jumilla Wine Route organize a year cycle between Wine Music, to be held from 31 May to 19 July.
The Minister and the Mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, presented this seventh edition of the series, which will involve six warehouses and a specialized local town, which offer musical performances, as well as guided tours of their facilities and tastings of their wines and traditional cuisine of the area.
"There will be two months full of good music and great wines" Ruiz, who recalled that the Jumilla Wine Route is among the ten most visited Spain said.
Also stressed in his speech that "the number of visitors has doubled wine over the past five years, from 10,360 visits in 2009 to 22,800 in 2013."
"This has been possible thanks to the work carried out by the Jumilla Wine Route, a firm commitment to quality and international recognition of wines jumillanos" said the counselor.
He recalled that "The Wine Route integrates all tourist services and resources of interest in a wine region, showing tourists the whole process of production of their wines."
Two months tasting apace
The seventh edition of the series Music between wines, organized by the Jumilla Wine Route in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism and the City Council and the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Jumilla, will begin on 31 May with a ceremony in which The Wine Route will give Gold Badge Jumillano medical and academic Ortuño Pacheco Guzmán.
Thus, recognizing the support, promotion and distribution of wine, and Jumilla in general, by the Professor of Pathology.
It will be at the Wine Museum, where also a musical performance and a wine reception will be offered.
The rest of the performances will be June 1, at Casa de la Ermita, which act Abdon Alcaraz (Flamenco bolero);
June 14 at Casa Canales, starring Gemina Horn Quartet (quartet ligation);
June 21, in Luzon, with the music of 'A Deal with Juliet' (pop rock);
June 28, BSI, where you can listen to flamenco fusion by Elves;
July 5, in Carche with flamenco Algolpe & Alcompás;
12 July, in Pio del Ramo, where act Magic Bus (pop rock);
and finally, on July 19, in Xeysel, where the festival with a concert by Black Ajam Band (jazz soul) will close.
The cycle of Music between Wines began in 2008 with the idea of ​​merging the culture of wine and music, due to the existence of bands and musical groups of different styles in the town, while the wineries involved demanded in the wine tourism activities to attract tourists to their wineries and by extension the town.
