The Directorate General of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water has made available today to forest brigade municipality of Jumilla new pumper 4x4 vehicle for extinguishing forest fires in the public forests of the town.
The vehicle, a Mercedes Benz Unimog U 20, has a tank capacity of 2,000 liters and a cost of 139,000 euros, which has been funded through the Fund for Improvement of the municipality of Jumilla.
The fund constitutes 15 percent of the total amount paid to the exploitation of public woodland of this county, and is intended for the preservation and improvement of the same, including the gear and means to contribute to the prevention risk in general.
The Directorate General of Environment participates in the Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fire Emergency Murcia (Infomur), providing technical, human and material resources.
This has a fleet of 18 vehicles extinction pumper-Vehest (4x4 trucks with water tanks), as many as existing forest brigades.
Environment is assessing the state of the fleet, in order to plan the gradual renewal of this vital equipment to handle any episode of fires involving the forest territory of the Region.
The acquisition of this new vehicle will enable the forest brigade of Jumilla not only control potential fire, but also manage other types of emergencies such as evacuation of water or water transport civilians.
