Yesterday the streets of Jumilla is silenced as every year, the passage of the procession of the Holy Burial, one of the oldest in the Holy jumillana week, with more than four centuries of tradition.
The procession of the Holy Burial originated in the seventeenth century with the extension of the old "Liturgy of Darkness", in which inside temples, crucified Christs to stage the funeral of Lord desenclavaban.
This liturgy finally left procesionaron temples in the streets, resulting in the Procession of the Holy Burial we know today.
The Christ the End is the first to open the procession, after which a total of 15 images it happen, to end the Virgen de la Soledad, which accompany a crowd of worshipers.
The Christ of the Health, Reja, Our Lady of Sorrows, the True Cross, or St. John the Apostle, are some of the images that procesionaron commemorating the burial of Christ, a journey that starts from Santa Maria to finish again Salvador Perez de los Cobos.
Closing the procession, mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, was accompanied by the government team, and other members of the Municipal Corporation, besides authorities of the local security forces and village headman of the village.
Holy Saturday, the drums announce the resurrection of Christ
Religious acts continue throughout the day today, Holy Saturday, with the Procession of Redemption, which will depart at 19.00 from the Church of Santiago, with the images of Christ and the Redemption of Christ's Body Guard.
At night, between 23.30 and 00.00 Jumilla drums announced the resurrection of Christ, in which Gloria Tamborada begin after a replicate of the bells in the Plaza Arriba.
From there, they will leave towards the Central Market, where the concentration of drums of Christ Association of Blood takes place.
Easter Sunday, "Encounter" and "Procession of the Risen Jesus"
On Sunday, at 12.00, with the echoes of the last staircase (ritual dance of the Arm of Jumilla), begins one of the most beloved events of Holy Week jumillana, the encounter between the risen Jesus with his glorious mother, the Garden Snail.
Hundreds of jumillanos and visitors flock to the place to witness this important moment, culminating in the flight of doves, the sound of fireworks and the national anthem.
After the meeting, part of the Procession of the Risen Jesus, ending with the traditional caramelada along all Canovas del Castillo Street, ending jumillana Passion Week.
