The Public Library and the Department of Culture have organized for Wednesday, April 2 conference "The drum on Easter: History and Tradition", by historian and official chronicler of the National Conference of Exaltation Drum and Bombo, Paterna Guillermo Alfaro, and PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid, José Francisco Peña Rodríguez.
The conference will take place at the Centro Sociocultural Roque Baños, 20.00, and in it the speakers will provide an overview of the drum from a historical perspective, tracing attendees to its origins from ancient to its evolution today, talking about its craftsmanship and its composition, different styles, their relationship and integration into Holy Week, also providing a social and anthropological perspective.
Paterna Guillermo Alfaro, plus official historian and chronicler of the National Conference of Exaltation Drum and Bass Drum is a permanent member of the National Board of Exaltation Drum and Bass Drum.
For his part, José Francisco Peña Rodríguez, was a professor at Dartmouth College (USA) and the Autonomous University of Madrid.
