The Spanish Christian Lawyers Association (CSSA) requested the PP councilor to cease their behavior and the party has endorsed him in his place
EACA understands that derision was done with premeditation because the costume required hours of pre-processing
The Spanish Association of Christian Association (CSSA) has denounced the popular council of Jumilla, Antonio Valero, the "mockery" held during the celebration of the carnival in which took an elaborate costume of the Virgin Mary and made "mockery" of the religious beliefs of millions of Christians.
The complaint requests that proceedings be instituted to ascertain whether a crime has been committed against religious feelings.
There are various judgments of the Court of Human Rights applicable to the present case in which "the legitimacy of the view that respect for the religious feelings of believers (as stated in art. 9 of the Convention) recognizes it has been violated by provocative representations object of religious veneration, and these representations may be taken by a malicious violation of the spirit of tolerance that should also characterize a democratic society. "
Seun EACA, mayor of Jumilla himself points out the existence of a crime when they said that their council "has done is very important because it has hurt the feelings of many people" and admits that he has committed "a serious error".
The legal action had been paralyzed if the councilor resigns or if the People's Party had him removed by the Popular Party, since from AEAC a petition is deemed insufficient apology "who were able to feel offended" without an actual gesture to make credible rectification.
