The City Council presented the Community memories for rural roads under five by more than 450,000 euros (19/02/2014)

The mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, accompanied by the Councillor for Agriculture and the technical area, last week attended a meeting organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in order to convey to all the local governments in the region, the lines of work to follow in the Regional Rural Roads Plan, within the period of the new Rural Development Programme, RDP 2014-2020.

In this sense, the performances are for packaging of rural roads that serve farms and in turn, serve as a link between rural communities.

The Rural Development Programme ended in 2013, so that the Ministry has opened a new six-year term to continue actions, defining the territorial needs.

The Department of Agriculture of the City of Jumilla has submitted two reports to the arrangement of five paths of the municipality, which if approved, would be financed 100% by the Autonomous Community.

Investing in 2014 Fitness Plan Rural Roads of the Autonomous Community of 4 million, and reports submitted by the City of Jumilla, exceeding 220,000 euros each, but shall be responsible for the Community rule that actions are undertaken.

One of the paths that are included in the report is the Way of Escandeles, the municipality only path that leads to a rural town where people live all year, and still remains unpaved.

The other options presented by the City of Jumilla have been either fix asphalt roads with the firm or badly damaged several roads unpaved ground.

According to the Councillor for Agriculture, Francisco Martínez Escandell, "the intention of the Ministry is to take notice of the road before the summer, so that the completion of the works completed between December 2014 and March 2015."

In addition the council has stressed "the sensitivity of the Community needs to listen to the residents of rural communities are demanding, and that they will respond with a series of performances."

During the meeting they discussed the further development of other roads annuity arrangements until 2020, so that funding is divided between Community and town councils.

It is expected that during this week, the technicians of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, together with the heads of the municipal area, visit the paths presented in situ, to have a better record of the status thereof.
