The municipalities of Nerpio, Moratalla, Hellin and Yecla meet in Jumilla to submit the project report 4D-Rock Art (08/01/2014)

Jumilla City Council this morning welcomed the presentation of the memory of "4D-Rock Art" project, through which have been digitized rock art shelters in five municipalities of Murcia and Castilla-La Mancha, in a multidisciplinary project that municipalities have collaborated Nerpio, Moratalla, Hellin, Yecla and Jumilla.

The presentation ceremony, which has been organized and coordinated by the Department of Culture of the City of Jumilla, attended by the Mayor and the Councillor for Culture of Jumilla, Enrique Jiménez and María Dolores Fernández, the Director General of Cultural Assets of the Region Murcia, Francisco García Giménez, plus Nerpio Mayor, Pilar Peña, Mayor of Moratalla, Antonio García Rodríguez, the Chief of the Cultural Heritage of Castilla-La Mancha, María Perlin, and councilors of Culture and Tourism the Yecla, Moratalla and the various heads of department of Culture of the municipalities involved in the project municipalities.

Study Results

The "4D-Rock Art" project has put in place a monitoring system of conservation issues in shelters with rock art.

The project involved five municipalities, coats Solana of Covachas, zones III and VI (Nerpio) Cañaica Calar II (Moratalla), Coat Large Minateda (Hellin), Cave du Midi (Yecla) and wrap Buen Aire I (Jumilla).

All are included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO in the framework of the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula.

Funding for the project has been realized through the notice of Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports Grants for conservation projects, conservation and dissemination of World declared, corresponding to 2012 Heritage property.

This is a multidisciplinary project with the collaboration of specialists from the fields of archeology, restoration, photography, analytical chemistry and computer science, coordinated by Dr. John F.

The Rock-Art 4D project has found that alteration processes in this set of coats are more active than expected, given that monitoring has only been carried out for 6 months.

Wrap Jumillano Buen Aire, but suffers wear, retains the top

One of the coats of those who worked on the project has been the Barranco del Buen Aire, located in the municipality of Jumilla.
