The Minister of Agriculture and Water presided acts, in which the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, performed the blessing of cheeses DO, and delivery of 2,000 cheese wedges became the director of Caritas Murcia Jose Luis Leante.
Enrique Jimenez, Mayor of Jumilla, accompanied by the Councillor for Agriculture, Francisco Martínez Escandell, was in charge of collecting the words, the gesture thanking the Council, and highlighting the work we do for the development of quality products.

The agriculture minister said the recognized and certified quality cheeses with Murcia, "with a growing presence in domestic and international markets as well as in agri events."
Antonio Cerda also highlighted the work of farmers in the region and the Regulatory Council, "whose work has been recognized with them ENAC certification in European Standard UNE 45011, that values ​​professionalism in the quality control."
Cerdá remarked that this was the first Regulatory Council of the Region to achieve this distinction and the fifth among 27 Tips Regulators different cheeses with Protected Designation of Origin in Spain.
Increased Production
In the past year, there has been an increase of 13.5 per cent of the production of goat cheese with denomination of origin, drawn by eight dairies registered.
These production values ​​are second consecutive year the largest recorded since the creation of this certification for cheese of Murcia.
The total amount of DO cheese stands at about 446,000 kilos, of which 406,500 are kilos of Murcia al Vino cheese and 39,000 kilos of cheese are Murcia Curado.
Adherence this last year of two new dairies to the Control Board has increased the volume of Fresco Queso de Murcia.
United States remains the main importer of cheese Murcia al Vino, whose market share has grown to 62 percent of the total produced in the region.
The Cured Murcia cheese is consumed mainly in the U.S., with 71 percent of total regional production.
As the domestic market, a slight decrease in consumption compared to 2011, with a decline of 8 percent was recorded.
