The Councillor for Agriculture, Francisco Martínez Escandell, inaugurated this morning the day of disclosure on agricultural insurance "insurance Additions to Wine Grape", organized by the COAG union Jumilla, whose closure has been made by the Director of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá.
The municipal charge of Agriculture has highlighted the connection that the "agricultural insurance are an important tool necessary to move forward with agricultural holdings" and expressed his desire that "Jornada result as positive as possible, and with it productive proposals which benefit the whole farmers' join.
For his part, Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, stressed the "well received" in the insurance settlement "onion-type" cultures vineyard, part of a basic module and lets go voluntarily completing guarantees by farmers "to conform more to their needs."
Further indicated that agriculture in the Region of Murcia "is increasingly specialized, tech and competitive and requires the implementation of agricultural insurance as security for activity against disasters or weather hazards."
"We are the second Spanish province assured agricultural production," remarked the director, adding that in the last five years, "has increased the level of assurance in the region."
Regarding vineyard crops, Cerda said the secured area "has remained almost constant over the last five years," adding that the level of assurance in this crop has increased from 21 percent in 2008 to 31 percent in 2013.
As stated in the Conference allowed, insurance lines have undergone certain modifications for the benefit of farmers, such as the reduction of 30 percent of premiums frost, the establishment of 'safe onion', and reviewing the insurable income and levels of individual risk and an annual update of the prices of grapes, among others.
At the conference, also attended by the director, the secretary general of COAG, Miguel Padilla, president and Jumilla, Peter Lenci.
