On Tuesday, the Secretariat of State for the Environment took place the meeting of the Management Committee of the Wine Routes of Spain, attended by the President of the Jumilla Wine Route, Pedro Piqueras, and several technical Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Jumilla.
During the meeting the Committee realized applications for certification of new wine tours and renewal of those already certified as in the case of Jumilla, which gained 80% on average in the various aspects to be assessed.
The highest score with 90% was obtained in paragraph enology, which caters to the training of personnel, quality system of the wineries, wine heritage enhancement or adequacy of tourism.
Other highlights in the audit are tourist services offered by the municipality or the promotion and marketing you do the same, which also reached 80% of the score.
Of the 30 institutions that make up the Wine Route, we evaluated 20 between wineries, restaurants, wine shops and wine bars in the municipality.
The councilman of Culture and Tourism, Maria Dolores Fernandez, explained in this regard, that "if it is to praise the work done and results achieved to date, much work still remains ahead so from the Department, in collaboration with Wine Route will continue to focus on improving the whole environment of Jumilla wine tourism. "
The Jumilla Wine Route obtained its first certification in 2005, date of entry in ACEVIN.
Since then, the trend has been recorded in the last year reaching, according to the Tourism Observatory Turespaña, 19,000 visits, and positioning among the top 10 most visited routes Spain.
Jumilla in moderation
Following the meeting of the Management Committee, welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding and adherence to the European Programme "Wine in Moderation '(Wine in moderation), signed by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (Acevin) Spanish Wine Federation and Research Foundation Wine and Nutrition (Fivin).
It is an initiative of the European wine sector, whose objective is to promote moderation and responsibility in wine consumption and contribute to the prevention of overuse or abuse of alcohol in Europe.
Other objectives of this program is to promote the message of wine as a premium product, to be savored slowly and in moderation and educate the various parties and the general public about the social and health risks posed by excessive consumption and abuse, while promoting cultural change in alcohol consumption approach.
