Almudena Martinez, Councillor for Health, met yesterday with the Minister of Health and Social Policy, Maria Angeles Palacios, and with other municipal representatives of the localities in which already implemented the Active Program, to develop a new edition is will be launched over the next quarter.
The 'Active Programme' is a health education strategy, part of the School of Health and Chronicity Care, part of the SMS 2015 Strategy, to promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles and encourage exercise.
Jumilla is one of 21 municipalities of the Autonomous Community that will be involved in this initiative that has already involved more than 2,500 citizens of the region, who joined the 130 group exercise led by about 253 primary care professionals.
This year, in addition to the Active Program, may be running a new form, oriented sedentary children aged between 9 and 11 years, called 'Active Families Programme'.
This program is in pilot phase in Molina de Segura and San Javier, waiting it spreads to other municipalities.
The Minister of Health and Social Policy praised the commitment of all involved in the local consistory 'Active Programme', because "without them it would be very difficult to do this activity and continue raising awareness and spreading the benefits of exercise on health."
Meanwhile, Almudena Martinez stressed that "the importance of physical activity to prevent and improve the quality of life of the participants, being equally important continuity independently once the passage through the program."
