The campaign highlights the need to use seat belt and Child Restraint Systems in both short and long trips, city and intercity.
To mark the start of the school year, the DGT, DGT, will start from Monday, until 15th September a control and awareness campaign of the use of child restraints and seat belts to which has joined the City of Jumilla.
As explained by the Councillor for Public Safety, Marina Garcia, "back to school with the number of child migration, thus caution is still more necessary".
So the mayor has appealed to the responsibility of parents, to carry children in appropriate chairs, properly positioned and fastened.
"Investing a few minutes to ensure the child well, can save your life" said the councilor, who also pointed out the importance of restraint systems are in good condition and that belt use in urban, reduces almost five times the chance of being seriously injured or killed.
The seat belt is a basic and fundamental element of road safety and reduces by half the risk of death in an accident.
In the case of child restraint system, at the time of purchase will be taken into account:
• The chair must always be approved, look for the E label that will indicate to vehicles is valid and weight of children who can use it.
• Test the chair you're considering purchasing your son or daughter and value your comfort and adaptation, ensuring that consent to go tied or bound.
• Check that the chair fits perfectly to your vehicle's seat and seat belts.
• Ask them to explain the installation instructions and welcomes those that are simpler.
• Remember: 43% of children traveling incorrectly child restraint systems and 37% do it without them
According to the DGT, half boys and / or girls under 12 years, died this summer, traveling with the child restraint system and 23% of those killed in car crash, not wearing a seat belt.
