The Councillor for Social Policy, Juna Calabuig, along with the head of the Municipal Drug Addiction Prevention, Antonia Maria Simon, presented the program "When you drink alcohol controls" which aims to advocate for responsible alcohol consumption in these days of celebrations in Jumilla.
Last year we developed a similar campaign under the slogan "For a healthy holiday" and this time the subject has focused on preventing drug abuse especially among younger people.
As explained Calabuig, the latest statistics are alarming, with consumption of alcohol every time it starts earlier.
"75% of teenagers between 14 and 20 years had consumed alcohol at some time in their lives; 6 out of 10 have been drunk at least once and 1 in 3 it has in the past 30 days," said Calabuig, who also said there was a general view among young people who think that eating 3 or 4 glasses do not cause any health problems, reasoning completely wrong.
Antonia Mary Simon, head of drug addiction program being developed by the Department of Social Policy, explained some of the causes that lead young people to lose control drinking alcohol being a major lack of initiative when to say NO against social pressure.
The campaign has distributed posters with different items in which he made various recommendations against using alcohol as they are doing it quietly, with a full stomach, do not mix drinks, or alternate it with water since alcohol dehydrates without perceived effect.
Another issue on which a driver is influenced alternative and the responsibility of friends when caring for a companion who lose control of uncontrolled intake of alcohol.
