The rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, and the mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, have signed an agreement for the establishment of a volunteer project with children and adolescents in the municipality.
Under this agreement, college students conducted school tutoring for children, activities for social skills training for adolescents with school maladjustment problems and to accompany children in their hours of leisure time.
Also, as the developer has specified convention, the Vice President for Student and Employment, Maribel Sanchez-Mora, collaboration is open to other programs developed by the Volunteer Service of the University.
During the signing ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Senate, the mayor, Enrique Jimenez, stressed the importance of an agreement "is intended to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents in the locality."
The rector said, meanwhile, the desire to expand collaboration with Jumilla, "one of the most iconic cities of the Region of Murcia," he said.
Referring to the agreement, Cobacho said aims to "alleviate social exclusion and train students as supportive and committed people."
