On Saturday December 15th, there was a tour of the Hoya de la Sima, the director of the Museum of Natural Sciences Cayetano Herrero.
This visit was the last of the Reservoir of footprints of the Hoya de la Sima.
With excellent support from the audience, with more than 50 people from Jumilla and neighboring communities as Castilla la Mancha and Valencia.
The visit consisted of an initial explanation of the geological formation of the area and the existence of mammals from the African continent, as Tragoportax, the Hyperion and camels, which are the star of these animals that lived in the area of ​​Jumilla ago over six million years.
He carefully explained the formation of these footprints, so that after several million years, we can still enjoy them.
After these explanations came to see and identify the tracks of different animals, which caused a sensation to visitors to see and touch the footprints that were shifting from animals six million years ago.
Finally there was a tour around the site, stopping at the old tubes kars, visits to the areas covered, with explanations of the quarries ethnographic, palaeontological and geological.
