Starter vaccination to prevent cervical cancer (22/10/2012)

The Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia, by the Directorate General of Public Health, has initiated vaccination to prevent cervical cancer.

This new vaccine will protect our daughters from a disease that can be serious.

What causes cancer of the cervix?

This cancer is mainly caused by a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV).

It is a very common virus and known many types.

Lesions usually cause benign, but in some cases leading ends this cancer.

How is it spread this virus?

The type of human papillomavirus that causes cervical cancer can be spread through any type of sexual relationship.

VACCINE IS EFFECTIVE?

Yes vaccine protects against the vast majority of cancer-causing virus and prevents its occurrence in virtually all cases.

WHO IS INTENDED THIS VACCINE?

It started in 2009 to all girls who meet 14 years, since the study reveals that this is the age when vaccine effectiveness is almost complete.

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death in young women after breast cancer.
