From the garden area is being carried out the last treatment of the season against the red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus).
Treatment began in May, coinciding with the period of insect flight and dispersion, repeated every forty five days: in early July, late August and now, which, after four sessions, is given by treatment ended Weevil this season.
The aim of these treatments is to eliminate the pest insect stopping playback because the female is capable of laying 300 to 400 eggs.
Damage caused by such high population are so serious that destroying the lives of the palm, as the larvae remain always within the palm, from which they are feeding, while adults are responsible for reproductive multiplication and colonization new copies as they have ability to maintain sustained flights of 4-5 km
Therefore it is important to remember again the owners of private palm, that the City has an inventory of palms open and where they can register, thus facilitating the detection of pests through close monitoring, and with the municipal technical advice.
