The Infanta Elena de Jumilla IES was the winner of the II Olympiad Regional Geography, by placing three of his students among the top four.
Francisco Jose Olivares Gonzalez and Raul Gonzalez Smiley, both of the institute Jumillano have won first and second prizes, respectively, while Maria Angeles Garcia Noguera, José Ibáñez Martín IES (Lorca), and Juan Francisco Garcia Ortega, the Infanta Elena , achieved the third prizes.
Students were referred to the top after a multiple choice test of fifty questions on the geography of the region, held in the Social Center of the University of Murcia with the participation of 151 students from 28 secondary schools.
The four winners will represent the Region of Murcia in the National Olympiad, which this year takes place from 20 to 22 April in Teulada-Moraira (Alicante), where they will try to defend the title that Murcia achieved a student in last year.
This activity, which is organized by the Association of Geographers from Spain, the Department of Geography, University of Murcia and the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, aims to raise awareness of this matter and career of it.
