About 60 volunteers Santa Ana reforested with pines, oaks and olive trees (08/02/2011)

Last Sunday about 60 people including volunteers and members of the Association STIPA Jumilla Naturalist, reforested the Santa Ana fire occurred in the summer of 2008.

A total of 200 Aleppo pines, 50 oaks and 70 olive trees were planted on the top of the fire, highlighting the important role of volunteers and presence of children.

As indicated from STIPA "this action is to regenerate as quickly as possible the ground, preventing soil erosion and helping our beloved mountains of Santa Ana recover that portion of forest trees destroyed by human causes."

On the other hand, members of the same association settled on Thursday February 3 and nest boxes some tiles on the roof of an old farmhouse used by Lesser Kestrels to reproduce.

This little bird of prey steppe listed "Endangered Species", which feeds primarily on insects harmful to agriculture, use the holes in the roof to form breeding colonies.

Due to the abandonment and collapse of old houses require you to provide some cavities which can raise their children.

Currently the college students of Santa Ana are conducting a workshop building tiles with the features necessary to provide the buildings, used by small falcons, adequate place to play.
