A total of 49 players and around the region gathered in a new edition of the regular Fall Chess Tournament organized by the Sports Association Coimbra to mark the start of the school year, according to reports from this group.
The event, held at the Duke of Lerma Hall throughout the morning of Sunday October 3, was characterized by the good atmosphere among the players, in which there was little impact, and a super organization of club members.
The tournament was divided into three distinct categories, and as usual the awards was made by Councilman Sports José Luis Monreal.
The winners were: third ranked category was Jorge Jijón Sub10, Murcia, finished second Raúl Monteblanco, Albacete and the champion of the category was Rafael Pujante, Chess Club Casa de Murcia.
In girls, the third-seeded Nuria Saorin was in Abarán, finished second María Pilar López Murcia and Murcia champion Germany was also Jijón.
In sub14, third place went to Juan Sergio Perez of Coimbra Jumilla, second Jaime Borja, Guadeloupe and the championship was won by David Piqueras, the Chess Club Home Murcia.
In girls, the second-placed was the Jumillano María José Pérez and also champion the Jumillano Angela Rico.
In the general category there was a clear favorite to win every game: Jose Borja, head of Torres, second place was Carlos Javier Molina of the San Roque club from White and finished third Juan Luis Saorin of Abarán.
Apart from the trophies, there were medals for all participants in the lower categories and details for the general.
On the other hand, October 2 also began the Regional Championship Chess Team, which our club participates with three teams.
It was not bad at all since the Jumilla Coimbra, principal team won by a convincing 3.5 to 0.5 to a loose Mar Menor C.
Worse was to Chess Coimbra during his visit to Guadeloupe, losing 3-1 to it.
The School Coimbra, team composed of players from the quarry, got a good point against a strong rival Blanca San Roque, a team that will fight for promotion to first division.
