The preliminary project of total rehabilitation of the Casa Pérez de los Cobos has been left out of the 1.5% cultural aid.
The 1.5% Cultural Mixed Commission, integrated by the Ministries of Development and Education, Culture and Sport, has provisionally approved that the project that will receive a grant from the Ministry of Development in the Region of Murcia is the restoration and conditioning of the Church of San Esteban, phase III.
The Ministry of Development will contribute 473,185.57 euros to this action.
The cost of the rehabilitation of the Perez de los Cobos House had been estimated at around 1,300,000 euros, so it was submitted to the call last August for 1.5% Cultural aids in search of financing a part of that amount.
900,000 euros were requested, the rest being assumed by the City Council.
"We will wait now to be notified and if there is a possibility, we will present allegations", said the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola.
The proposal was to turn the Casa Pérez de los Cobos into a space dedicated to the history of music, taking advantage of the different rooms such as exhibition and didactic rooms, cafeteria and shop.
"The purpose is to give tourist use and revitalize the historical set of Jumilla, even serving to explain the urban development of the city, being therefore a very important project to boost the culture and tourism of the historic set of Jumilla," said the mayoress.
The City of Jumilla already undertook last year an emergency action that consisted of cleaning, shoring and debris of the house, as well as the timely replacement of the roof with the aim of achieving minimum conditions of safety and stability avoiding, until the definitive restoration is made, the action of the rain that entered through the cracks and landslides.
The works had a cost of 102,800 euros.
