The Department of Social Policy has increased during 2017 the amounts allocated to aid of urgent need for the most vulnerable families.
They have been 125,970.44 euros, which is 9% more than in 2016, 22% more than in 2015 and almost tripled compared to 2014. The average amount received per family has also increased by 3, 3% compared to last year, being 425 euros.
The most usual destination for this aid has been for the purchase of textbooks and school supplies, while rent payments appear in second place, ahead of the purchase of food and personal equipment.
To the previous amount it is necessary to add 11,700 euros that have been destined to aid of extreme necessity, being a total of 425 the attended ones.
The amount has doubled compared to last year.
The average waiting period to be attended at the Jumilla Social Services Center was 17.3 days during 2017, "which has been maintained despite the fact that a greater number of users have been served with the objective that no need remains without being covered and the quality of the service remains optimal, "said the councilor of the area, Salvi Pérez.
The total budget of Social Policy and Equality in 2017 was 1,661,040.95 euros, of which 24.23% came through grants from the CARM and the rest (75.76%) has been assumed by the own Jumilla City Council, despite the fact that most of the competitions are regional.
