During 2017, several of the key projects that the local government had planned in this legislature have been completed.
The process of rehabilitation of several buildings and municipal facilities lacking in maintenance has continued.
School of Music, El Alpicoz Social Center, social headquarters of the Barrio del San Juan, courtyard of the City Council, Mercado de Abastos and Teatro Vico have received 200,000 euros of investment with their own funds that have been refitted.
Likewise, it has been reinvested in the settlement of streets and squares through resurfacing plans, Works and Services Plan, as well as integral rehabilitations of different landscaped areas, such as the San Antón Garden, which has been completely renovated. or the Plaza Gloria Fuertes.
It has also bought new street furniture: banks, litter bins, children's games or adapted biosaludables games and distributed in urban areas and districts.
In addition, it has continued with the LED renewal of the lighting of several streets and avenues, as well as the surroundings of the convent of Santa Ana.
Renovation of the mobile park for garbage collection and street cleaning
The investment in the improvement of the system of garbage collection and street cleaning of the municipality has become a reality with the acquisition of two new trucks, one of them washer-washers, as well as the purchase of two new sweepers.
Likewise, new containers have been placed, including underground, and new selective collection points.
This renewal of machinery and containers has meant an investment of more than 700,000 euros in the last two years that shows the clear commitment of the local government for the public management of this service.
During this year, different maintenance works have been carried out again in educational centers, exceeding 100,000 euros, to which 33,000 euros are added for the burying of the power line of the future Prince Felipe school, whose bidding process has already begun.
Less taxes, more investment in Jumilla
The year 2017 has meant for the Jumillans a new reduction of taxes and fees, reaching a reduction in the receipt of the urban IBI of up to 10.9% in the current legislature, which will be effective in the receipts of 2018. It has been lowered the debt at historic highs and economic stability has been increased, which will allow the investment of 2.4 million euros from the Treasury surplus.
A complete remodeling of Avenida de la Libertad and Plaza del Camionero Juan Soriano will be carried out.
300,000 euros will go to an Asphalt Plan that will involve the arrangement of different complete sections.
Among the projects, also highlight the remodeling of the squares of San Juan, Manuel Azaña and the public garden of El Arsenal.
Again invest in led lighting to renew different areas, this time with an investment of 616,000 euros, exceeding 200,000 the amount of the previous year.
Eight new job boards
In the last year the processes of eight new job exchanges have been started, which join the eight previous ones that have already allowed during these twelve months the access to public positions every time there are vacancies.
In Youth Employment, six people have been hired for six months full time: two informative technicians, a carpenter, two painters and an electrician, through the Youth Guarantee Program.
Likewise, 15 young people between 16 and 29 years old have participated in the 'Dinamiza Jumilla' program, with which for nine months they have alternated theoretical training with paid employment.
Jumilla has also been the headquarters of the 100x100 Activation Program, through which more than half of the 25 participants were hired.
In Social Services, for the second year, it has opted for the creation of social employment with a game of 100,000 euros that has given work to more than a dozen long-term unemployed.
Making an accessible Jumilla is another of the basic pillars of the legislature.
This year they have invested 85,000 euros in reduced fords, accessibility to municipal buildings, public toilets, gardens and a crane for the Indoor Pool.
Similarly, the groups with social purposes have had subsidies worth 115,000 euros, triple that three years ago.
Aid of urgent need has been maintained, which has exceeded 110,000 euros, of which 30,000 has been to help books and school supplies, which must be joined another 21,000 students in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education.
Support for the base of the local economy, which is agriculture, has once again been decided.
The second edition of the Agricultural Fair welcomed more than 30 exhibitors from the main brands and brands in agricultural machinery, tools and companies related to the sector.
It has been invested in the settlement of rural roads, taking into account historical demands such as the rehabilitation of the La Raja road, to which is added the completion of one of the sections of the Colonization trail through the Rural Development Program of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, which will allow the settlement of four other roads during the next months.
Dynamization of local commerce
This year it has opted to boost and motivate local trade to the maximum with initiatives such as the Outlet Fair 'Jumilla Stock' or the launch of the 'Keep Calm and Buy in Jumilla' campaign, which have been especially welcomed by retailers of the location.
In Environment, the transfer of the Urban Waste Transfer Station of Jumilla to the Solid Waste Consortium will save 72,000 euros a year to the City Council, since the waste does not have to be transported to the Ulea landfill.
In Celebrations the different agreements with the collectives have been improved again, with exceptional support to the XXX National Encounter of Brotherhoods that was celebrated in September.
One of the most varied Fairs of the last years was organized with a rich program destined to all the public and the Carnival and the Christmas has been impelled again.
In Culture, the performances and renowned plays have once again become protagonists in the programming of each quarter, as well as the approach of the same to the neighborhoods.
The groups, collectives and local artists have once again had a preferential space in museums and Casa del Artesano.
The exhibitions, talks, conferences, international days, and the Night of the Museums have been reinvigorated, with many activities of great reception and participation.
In short, events for all audiences and areas of Jumilla that have increased the interest of all for culture.
Reopening of the San Francisco Pavilion
In Sports, the San Francisco Pavilion has reopened its doors after almost four years closed, after making the necessary repairs in subsidiary execution to which other improvements have been added.
More than 100,000 euros have been contemplated in subsidies to sports clubs, covering a greater number than the previous year.
Improvements in the facilities continue.
The Municipal Sports Center La Hoya has released public lighting and the tracks and football fields will be renewed soon.
The new material acquired for the athletics track has allowed Jumilla to host a regional championship of combined events for the first time.
The indoor pool has been enhanced with the celebration of different activities such as the Waterpolo Absolute Regional Cup or days of Regional Swimming League and the training park of the Botanical Garden of La Estacada has been improved.
A comprehensive action plan has been drawn up which in the future will allow for the unified remodeling of sports facilities such as the Carlos García Pavilion, La Hoya Sports Center, the Bernardo González Velodrome or the Miguel Hernández indoor track.
Work has also begun on the new Olympic swimming pool, which will be completed in February with an investment of close to 450,000 euros.
Jumilla has been again this year Science City, counting with excellent activities aimed at young people, who have joined courses, workshops, talks and trips of the Youth Council.
The Department of Public Health organized the II Jumilla Health Week with greater participation and activities than in the first edition, having again the primary care as a protagonist and with first class figures such as the ex-competitor of Master Chef, Mireia Ruiz, with his workshop 'Cooking healthy smiles'.
Empowerment of volunteering through the Time Bank
The Jumilla Time Bank has completed its first year of life with a balance of 150 donated hours and approximately 500 pending hours to donate.
The initiative launched by the Department of Volunteering together with the Most Active Association currently has 60 different activities, some of them weekly, and about 30 active donors.
In Traffic, several of the steps located in places that did not have traffic lights for pedestrians have been regulated with traffic lights and the School Road Education Campaign has been strengthened again. "If problems appear we cross together" with the participation of almost 1,500 children of all the schools of the municipality.
The Park of Education Road has increased and improved its material and gives services every Sunday to the future drivers.
The Local Police has come closer to citizens through social networks and has increased its fleet with a new vehicle that will debut shortly.
In addition, it is expected that one of its most outstanding projects, the Canine Unit, will be presented shortly.
Value of the districts
The valorisation of the districts and the improvement of their surroundings has once again become a basic pillar of the local government during 2017. This year more than 200,000 euros have been invested in different improvements in social premises, such as the renovation of the roof of the old school of the Fuente del Pino, whose works have just begun, asphalting streets, placing canopies for buses, groups of mailboxes or the rehabilitation of the Sopalmo fountain in Las Encebras.
In Tourism, Jumilla has once again bet on enhancing its Wine Route, new tourist brochures have been prepared and different participations have been promoted in fairs and new guided tours of the city.
Greater participation of citizens in decisions
The participation of Jumillans has been fundamental again this year with the implementation of a new process of Participatory Budgeting, which has increased to 150,000 euros the amount whose destination citizens have decided, and this occasion giving special value to the proposals of Young.
In addition, the proposals approved in the previous process have been made effective, as well as many others that did not reach the top positions.
