The general director of Women and Equality of Opportunities, Alicia Barquero, visited today in Jumilla the School of Work and Family Life Reconciliation, which this year receives 9,863 euros to develop recreational and educational projects of schools in non-school periods, extended schedules in schools and other municipal facilities, extracurricular activities, transportation services and babysitting or punctual care.
In the act, Barquero explained that this is one of the initiatives co-financed by the community funds, which are part of the Operational Program of the European Social Fund for the period 2014-2020, which will reach in the Region of Murcia five million euros.
Of this amount, 2.5 million are allocated to work and family life balance programs developed by the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities;
the other 2.5 million are for employability programs.
This action is financed through subsidies to the municipalities of the Region of Murcia, for the provision of services aimed at the reconciliation of work, personal and family life, co-financed by 80 percent by the European Social Fund.
The offer of subsidized services is intended for the care of children up to 12 years whose parents are working or participating in training actions for employment.
The financing of the General Directorate for Women and Equal Opportunities for this year is 400,000 euros for the entire Region for this type of project.
In the distribution of the amounts by municipalities, the child population of each of them has been taken into account.
The distribution proposal starts from a minimum financing, necessary for the provision of the service, for an amount of 4,274 euros, which is granted on a linear basis to municipalities with less than 1,300 minors.
The variety of subsidized resources allows each municipality to adapt its offer to the specific characteristics of its labor market and more efficiently attend to the needs of its population.
Alicia Barquero explained that "this line of subsidies is part of the strategy that the Community is implementing to promote female employability and self-employment in the Region." For the development of these actions, cooperation between the regional administration and municipalities is essential Only taking into account the needs and particularities of the labor market in each municipality is it possible to develop a regional strategy that promotes the full incorporation of women into the world of work ".
Equal opportunities
Barquero also visited in Jumilla the Center for Specialized Care for Women Victims of Violence (Cavi), where he declared that the Community earmarked 2.2 million this year for the prevention of gender violence and victim care, and that increased by 9 percent the attention provided in the CAVIS.
Specifically, the Jumilla is funded from the Directorate General with 40,584 euros.
The Regional Network of Specialized Attention Centers for Victims of Gender-based Violence (CAVI Network) of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities registered up to the month of August a total of 16,426 attentions, compared to the 14,932 last year.
"The increase in attention is the result of a growing knowledge of specialized resources, as well as coordination between different agencies and departments of the three levels of the Administration," said Alicia Barquero.
The visit to Jumilla will conclude with the conference to be delivered this afternoon on Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, organized by the Association of Housewives of Jumilla.
