The City of Jumilla and Ecoembes have launched the campaign 'Recicla', which aims to show the tangible Jumillanos the benefits of recycling the waste that is deposited in the yellow container (cans, plastic containers and briks), both in the protection of air quality and in the care of the environment.
It is intended to answer the question "What is the purpose of recycling?", A question that many people make when properly separating their waste.
To transmit this message, Ecoembes has made several advertising pieces in which it shows with real data ("For every six cans / plastic bottles you recycle in the yellow container countered 10 minutes of an exhaust pipe") how the separation of waste is makes it a fundamental action that contributes to keeping the air as clean as possible and avoiding air pollution.
This information can be verified on the web where the equivalences used are explained, the result of calculating the difference of the CO2 emissions that are produced when making containers with natural resources versus doing it with recycled materials.
The campaign is having presence in different channels of communication of Jumilla like television, radio, printed press, internet and supports of external publicity as they are mupis.
The Councilor for the Environment, Juan Gil Mira, has been satisfied because "the data show that the Jumillanos every day are more aware of the environment."
In 2016, 448.45 tons of packaging were recycled in Jumilla, 64.4% more than the previous year.
Specifically, each citizen deposited an average of 5.26 kilograms in the yellow container (cans, briks and plastic containers) and 12.41 kilograms in the blue container (paper and cardboard containers).
"There is still a lot to do and with this campaign we want to demonstrate that a small gesture such as depositing the domestic containers in the appropriate container makes us all help to conserve the environment," said the mayor.
