Last Friday met the Municipal Commission for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers in which it was informed that this year is planned to invest 85,000 euros in accessibility.
Of these, 30,000 euros will be allocated to the elimination of architectural barriers in streets and public buildings (third phase), 20,000 euros for adapted children's games, 10,000 euros for accessibility of the Plaza de Gloria Fuertes, 7,000 euros for the adequacy of public toilets, 10,000 Euros to make accessible the entrance pavement to the House of Culture, as well as another 8,000 for the start up of the cranes that will make accessible the Indoor Pool and the median glass of the Pools of the Sports Center La Hoya.
These actions will comply with proposals that came through the Participatory Budgets.
For this third phase of the plan, in the commission it was proposed to prioritize the actions to finish eliminating the barriers that still remain in the avenues of Levante, Reyes Católicos and Libertad.
Likewise, it was proposed to adapt the toilets of Santa Ana and the construction of accessible toilets in the Plaza del Rey Don Pedro.
The meeting was attended by Councilors of Social Policy and Works, Salvi Pérez and Francisco González, representatives of the associations Amfiju and Aspajunide, as well as municipal technicians and a councilor of the municipal group PP.
It was agreed that the associations will facilitate in the coming days the actions they consider to be a priority to begin with the procedures.
In 2016, 54,500 euros were invested in the second phase of the plan, which improved accessibility on 27 old sidewalks by means of reduced forks at pedestrian crossings and corners, as well as in five public buildings.
In the first phase, at the end of 2015, the barriers of 19 pedestrian crossings with an investment of 15,000 euros were eliminated.
